Why is it best to use plastic test tubes and beakers during DNA extraction?
Generally, when we do DNA extraction, we use chicken blood cells for extraction. The reason for using chicken blood cells is that the red blood cells of birds still have DNA when they mature; the red blood cells of mammals have no DNA when they mature. So, use chicken blood cells. The practice is to put 5-10ml of chicken blood cell liquid into 20ml of distilled water.
However, the DNA released after the broken chicken blood cells is easily absorbed by the glass container, because the content of DNA in the cells is relatively small. If a part is absorbed by the glass container, the extracted DNA will be less. Therefore, it is best to use plastic beakers and test tubes during the experiment, which can reduce the loss of DNA during the extraction process.
